Chadwick Commits to the Highest Standards of Academic Excellence

Academics at Chadwick are rigorous, innovative and produce outstanding student outcomes. Our teachers guide and mentor students through an inquiry-based curriculum, encouraging curiosity, classroom discussion and problem-solving. Chadwick students make discoveries by doing and reflecting. They seek to understand the “why” of their learning and to apply it outside the classroom.

As our students progress through each grade level, from the Village School through the Middle School to the Upper School, their learning is expanded through exploration, collaboration and student-initiated projects.

Graduating seniors reveal the colleges they will attend on their last day at Chadwick. This tradition, part of Senior Sleepover on the Vanderlip Lawn, celebrates their hard work and achievement, and is a testament to how well-prepared our Upper School students are for the country's most prestigious colleges and universities.

Middle School students work collaboratively on a complex robotics project. Our students enjoy many opportunities to learn and excel in science, technology and engineering, giving them a distinct advantage in their academic and professional futures.

Curriculum That Gives Students a Strong Advantage

We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and by the Association for Experiential Education. Our curriculum is benchmarked regularly against proven national and international programs developed by leading educational organizations, including:

  • University of California Accreditation Standards

  • College Board Advanced Placement Accreditation Standards

  • California Common Core State Standards (CCSS)

  • International Baccalaureate Guidelines

Our STEM program is strong and continues to expand, giving our students the skills and experience they need to succeed in a changing society and economy:

  • SCIENCE: We have dedicated science teachers in the Village, Middle and Upper Schools with labs beginning in Kindergarten through Integrated Science in the Upper School.

  • TECHNOLOGY: Village and Middle School students enjoy an iPad program and Upper School students have laptops. Students also have access to dedicated maker spaces — creative, DIY spaces that feature 3D printers and inventive software to create a technology-based learning laboratory.

  • ENGINEERING: We have a robust, acclaimed robotics program at Chadwick.

  • MATH: We offer a strong foundation in math skills in the Village School, leading all the way to the availability of college-level courses through and beyond AP Calculus BC in the Upper School.
